The seventh son of Elder James and Edie Blackwell, Pastor Andrew Blackwell relocated to Washington D.C. from New Castle, Pennsylvania in 1960. While attending Friendship Church of God in Christ, he accepted God as his personal savior and was filled with the Holy Ghost; ultimately, accepting the call to preach.
Anointed to preach, sing and play (the organ), Elder Blackwell has expanded his talents and education by attending and graduating from the H.E. Wood Bible Institute and Theological Seminary, International; he has served as the District Evangelist President and now serves as the Chairman of the Pastors and Elders Council for the Washington D.C. Jurisdiction.
Elder Blackwell is the founder and senior pastor of Greater Love Anointed Church of God in Christ in Annandale, Virginia. He is married to Evangelist Sharon Blackwell, has two daughters, one son-in-law and three grandchildren.
Together Pastor and First Lady Blackwell strive, following the leading of the Holy Spirit, to reach the unsaved and lead them to Christ as well as nourish the gifts in those whom God places in their path.
An encourager…..A teacher…..A man of faith whose trust is in the Lord, whose hope is in the Lord, Pastor Blackwell loves to give God his best praise; always remembering those things God has done and expecting those things God is going to do.
Pastor Blackwell stands on Lamentation 3:21-22, This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope. It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
Some call her Evangelist……some call her Missionary………. some call her First Lady; all of which she is. But most significantly, she is a Proverbs 31 woman who hears from God.
Evangelist Sharon Blackwell is the oldest daughter of seven children born to Superintendent and Mrs. Ira and Inez Edwards of Dublin, Georgia. She relocated to Washington, D.C. in 1970 where she successfully furthered her education and career; eventually, retiring from the Alexandria Public School System after 32 years. Most recently, Evangelist Blackwell completed her degree in Biblical Studies from the H. E. Wood Bible Institute.
First Lady Blackwell serves with her husband, Elder Andrew Blackwell who is the senior pastor of Greater Love Anointed Church of God in Christ in Annandale, Virginia. Married for 44 years, they have two children: Andrea Briscoe and Lakeesha Blackwell, three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
In addition to being over the GLA women’s department and the Y.W.C.C., Evangelist Blackwell’s passion is counseling women of all ages, cultures and backgrounds. She enjoys assisting seniors and encouraging wives whose husbands work in the ministry.
God has birthed in Evangelist Blackwell her “Tell it Like it is” ministry believing that God will “sanctify them through thy Truth”, for His word is truth (John 17:17).
First Lady Blackwell believes and teaches the entire word of God but focuses on Romans 12:1; I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
